Kalyanji ( Kalyanji Anandji)-Music Director (Originally recorded in 1974)

Main in geeton ko teen bhaagon mein baant-ta hoon, homeopathic, allopathic aur ayurvedic. Ab aap samajh rahe honge ki yeh koi doctor Jaimala prastut kar raha hai kya. Main aapko bata hoon in teen categories ke baare mein. Homoeopathic mein we gaane aate hain jinhe banate samay
humein yeh pata naheen rehta ki gaana kaisa banega, yaa to bahut
achchha banega ya phir bahut hi bekaar banega. Allopathic category
mein we gaane aate hain jo pehle pehle to sunne mein bahut achchhe
lagte hain par samay ke saath saath unki madhurta kam hone lagti hai
jis tarah se allopathic dawaaiyon ka baad mein reaction aur side effects hota hai. Aur teesra category hai ayurvedic ka, ismein we gaane aate hain jo pehle sunne mein utna achchha naheen bhi lag sakta
hai, par dheere dheere unki mithaas badhti chali jaati hai. To aaj main is karyakram mein aapko kuch aise hi ayurvedic gaane sunwane jaa raha hoon. Sabse pehle suniye film Suhaag Raat mein Lataji ki awaaz,
Indeevarji ka geet.

[Greetings to military brethrens from Kalyanji and Anandji. You must have been listening to our songs for several years courtesy Vividh Bharati. Till now, we have composed music for more than 100 movies. I categorise these songs in three categories, viz Homeopathic, allopathic and ayurvedic. Now you may be thinking that it is some doctor who is presenting Jaimala. Let me explain about these three categories. Homoeopathic songs are those about whose fate we are not sure at the time of creating them. Allopathic category songs are those which may sound nice in the beginning but whose effect may wear off with passage of time just like allopathic medicines are known to have their side effects. And the third category of songs are ayurvedic songs. The songs falling under this category are those who may not sound nice in the beginning but they begin to sound nice as time passes. I am going to play some ayurvedic songs in this programme. At the outset, let us listen to a song from the movie Suhagraat, sung by Lata, whose lyrics were by Indeewar.]

Song: Mayya o Ganga mayya (Suhaag Raat)

Ab iske baad ek aur aisa hi ayurvedic geet prastut hai, is geet ke
peechhe ek kahani hai. Anandji, mere chhote bhai, kai saal pehle
Indeevarji ne ek geet likha tha jise Anandji ne us samay apne paas
rakh liya tha. Manoj Kumar jab Upkaar film bana rahe the tab Pran
sahab ke liye aisi hi ek geet ki situation aa gayi. Us samay Pran
sahab film mein kabhi geet naheen gaya karte the, unke roles bade
serious kism ke hote the. Upkaar mein pehli baar unhone kisi geet
mein abhinay kiya.

[Now, I am going to present one more Ayurvedic category of song. There is a story behind this song. Many years ago, Indeewarji had written a song which Anandji,my younger brother, had kept with him. When Manoj Kumar was producing the movie “Upkaar” then the situation arose for a similar song that needed to be picturised on Pran. Till then, Pran was not known to sing songs in movies, as his roles used to be of serious nature. “Upkaar” was the first movie in which he sang on screen. Manna Dey sahab has sung this song so beautifully that one does not feel like this song is a plaback song.]

Song: Kasmen vaaden pyar wafa sab baaten hai (Upkaar)

Ab jo geet main aapko sunwaane jaa raha hoon woh geet hai Himalay Ki God Mein film se, main to ek khwaab hoon is khwaab se tu pyar na kar. Is geet ke liye humdono ko pehli baar Cine Music Directors ka award mila tha. is geet se judee ek ghatna aapko batata hoon. Is geet ke
record hone ke baad mujhe ek ladki ka phone aaya ki usey yeh geet
bahut pasand hai aur woh mere munh se yeh geet sunna chahti hai.
Maine usey ghar par bulaya, gaana sunaya, woh chali gayi. Phir kuchh
dino baad uska phone aaya ki woh ek baar phir mujhe sunna chahti hai.
Maine usey phir bula liya. Aise 3-4 baar jab uske phone aate rahe,
Mujhe lag raha tha ki chakkar kuchh aur hi hai, to jab chauthi baar
jab woh mere ghar aayi, maine gaaya, main to ek BAAP hoon is BAAP se tu pyar na kar. To suniye yeh geet Mukesh ki awaaz mein, bol likhe
hain Qamar Jalalabadi ne.

[The next song is from the movie ” Himalay Ki God Mein”, ” main to ek khwaab hoon is khwaab se tu pyar na kar”. For this song, we got Cine Music Directors award for the first time in our career.Let me tell you about an incident associated with this song. After the recording of this song, I received a phone from a girl saying that she loved this song and she would like to listen to this song in my voice. I invited her to my home, sang the song in my voice, and she went away. A few days later, she again phoned saying that she wanted to listen to the same song again in my voice. When I continued getting her phones repeatedly for 3-4 times, then I began to smell a rat. So when she came to my residence a fourth time,
I sang the song as “main to ek BAAP hoon is BAAP se tu pyar na kar”. Here is that song in the voice of Mukesh, and its lyrics are by Qamar Jalalabadi.]

Song: Main to ek khwaab hoon (Himalay Ki God Mein)

Ab jo gaana aap sunne jaa rahe hain, usey maine chuna hai Samjhauta film se. Mere ek doctor dost hain jo ek bar mujhse aakar kehne lage ki mubaaraq ho aapka ek gaana main le gaya tha jise sunkar mera ek patient achchha ho gaya. Sach bhi hai is geet ka arth jo samajh jaaye uske liye jeevan kaafi aasaan ho jaata hai. Lataji ki awaaz mein suniye is geet ko.

[The next song that you are going to listen is one that I have picked from “samjhauta”. I have a doctor friend who once came to me and began to congratulate me saying that he had taken a song from me and one of his patients gt well after listening to this song. And truly it is such a song that if one understands its meaning then he may find life much more easy to live. Let us listen to this song in the voice of Lataji.]

Song: Samjhauta ghamon se karlo (Samjhauta)

Ab yeh mera bahut hi pasandida gaana, iske baare mein mujhe kuchh kehna hi naheen hai, sirf isey suniye, Indeevar ka likha huya.

[The song that follows is one that I just love. I do not want to say anything about this song. Just listen to it, which is written by Indeewar.]

Song: Chhod den saari duniya kisi ke liye (Saraswati Chandra)

Ab suniye film Kora Kagaz ka ek geet. Jab hum iske geet bana rahe the to kisi ne zyaada ummeed naheen kee thee. Par release ke baad kaafi lokpriya huya. Professor Hashmaq ne pehli dafaa kisi film mein gaane likhe. Suniye Kishore Kumar ki awaaz mein yeh geet.

[Now let us listen to this song from “Kora Kaaghaz”.When we were composing this song, we did not have much expectations from this song. But this song became very popular after it was released. Professor Hashmat wrote a song for a movie for the first time here. Let us listen to this song in the voice of Kishore Kumar.]

Song: Mera jeevan kora kaagaz kora hi reh gaya (Kora Kaaghaz)

[Now let us listen to a lovely song in the voices of Lataji and Rafi saahab from a recent movie “Haath Ki Safaai”, it has been written by Gulshan Baawra. Here is the song]

Song: Waada karle saajna (Haath Ki Safaai)

To fauji bhaiyon, aaj maine aapko kuchh ayurvedic gaane sunwaaye, aapko pasand aaye honge, ab aap mujhe ijaazat deejiye, namaskaar.

[Well military brethrens, today I presented to you some ayurvedic songs. I hope you liked them. Now allow me to take your leave. Good bye.]

Naushaad (Music director)- Originally presented sometime in 1980s

Fauji bhaiyon, aap mera salaam, aadaab, namskaar, satsriakaal qabool karen. Aap wahaan watan ki nigehbaani kar rahe hain, hamar bhi farz hai ki apne adab, apni tehzeed ki hifaazat karen, par aaj hum yeh naheen kar paa rahe hain. Pehle ke zamaane ki filmen awaam ko kuchh deti the. New Theatres, Bombay Talkies, Prabhat Film Company, Sagar Movietone, jaisi companiyaan achchhi achchhi filmen banaati thi. Par aaj log theatre mein sirf dekar aate hain, wahaan se lekar kuchh naheen aate. Shuruwaat ke dino ki filmen fantassy aur hairatangez kahaaniyon par bana karti thi, maslan Hatim tai, Yahudi Ki Ladki, vagairah. New Theatres ne pehli baar samaajik film ka nirmaan shuru kiya. Film thi Devdas, aur humein mila Saigal sahab ke roop mein naayaab tohfa. To aayiye, pehla gaana sunte hain isi film se.

[Military brethrens, please accept my greetings. You are guarding our borders there, and it is our duty here to guard our culture and our values, and we are not always successful in doing that. Movies of olden days used to give something to the nation. Companies like New Theatres, Bombay Talkies, Prabhat Film Company, Sagar Movietone, used to make good movies. But these days, the movie goers lose something, but hardly gain anything while watching a movie in a theatre. Earlier movies used to be based of fantasy and stunts, viz. Hatim tai, Yahudi Ki Ladki etc. New Theatres was the one which made a movie on a social theme for the first time. The movie was “Devdas” and we got a great gift in the form of Saigal saahab. Let us listen to the first song of the programme from this movie.]

fauji bhaaiyon, Hasrat Jaipuri ka naghmon bharaa salaam qabool ho, aadaab arz hai! aaj main aapke saamne hoon aur aap bhi apne tasavvur ke aaine mein mujhe dekh rahe honge. aaj sabse pehle ek sher sunaa raha hoon, phir aap hi se poochhoonga ki main kiski baat kar raha hoon is sher mein. “gale mein jiske saraswati ho usko kaun haraaye, naam hai uska Hind ki bulbul gaakar mast banaaye”. sochiye, main aapko 1 ‘second’ ka waqt detaa hoon. agar naheen bataa sakenge to meraa gaana aapko bataa degaa.

[Military brethrens, please accept the musical greetings from Hasrat Jaipuri. Today I am present before you and you must be able to visualise me before you. at the outset, I will read out a “sher” to you, and then I will ask you to guess the person this “sher” describes. “gale mein jiske saraswati ho usko kaun haraaye, naam hai uska Hind ki bulbul gaakar mast banaaye”. Think , I grant you one second for that. In case you cannot tell, this song certainly will.]

————————–
Hindustaan ke fauji bhaaiyon ko salaam!

aaj se chaar saal pahale film ‘Haqeeqat’ ki shooting ke liye jab ham Kashmir aur Ladakh ki waadiyon mein gaye the, tab ham aapke kayi fauji bhaayiyon se mile the. Aur shooting ke baad, jab mujhe Ladakh se fauran nikalnaa padaa, tab kuchh fauji bhaayiyon ne meri kaafi madad ki thi. Us waqt to main un logon kaa shukriyaa adaa na kar sakaa, aur uske baad bhi koyi aisaa mauqaa nahin milaa ki unkaa shukriyaa adaa kar sakoon. To aaj agar meri aawaaz un tak pahunch rahi hai, to main unkaa dil se shukriyaa adaa kartaa hoon.

aaj main unki khidmat mein, aur aap ki khidmat mein, chand filmi naghme lekar aayaa hoon.

Ummeed hai aap ko pasand aayenge.

jo pahalaa hi gaanaa main sunaane jaa rahaa hoon, vo maine ek fauji bhaayi ke munh se hi sunaa thaa – sattrah hazaar feet oopar Zakha-la pass ke paas. Huaa yun ki ham jab hamaari jeep mein wahaan se guzar rahe the, to do jawaanon ne hamaari jeep ko rokaa, aur hamaari taraf apni bandooken taanin. Kahne lage, ‘aap ne agar hamaare saath aakar chaay nahin pi to ham aap ko jaane nahin denge.’ Phir jab ham unke bunker mein baithe chaay ka intazaar kar rahe the, to baaton

[Four years ago, whe we had gone to the hills of Kashmir and Ladakh during the shooting of the movie “Haqeeqat”, then we had med many of your military brethrens. After the shooting, when I had to urgently leave Ladakh, then a few military brethrens helped me out a lot. I was unable to thank them at that time, and I never got an opportunity to thank them even later. If they are able to listen to my voice now then I take this opportunity to offer my heartfelt thanks to them.

Today, I have come to present to them, and to you, a few filmy songs. I hope that you will like these songs. The first song that I presenting is one that I had heard from non other than a military personnel, at a height of 17000 feet near Zakh la pass. When our jeep was passing through there, two military men stopped out jeep, brandished their guns at us and said-” unless you have a cup of tea with us, we will not let you pass.” When we were waiting for the tea to
arrive in thie bunkers, rum bottles were opened and after a few moments, I heard a voice singing
this song. That song was from “Sharaabi”, which is written by Rajinder Krishan, music is composed by Madan Mohan and it has been sung by Rafi]

Yesudas (Singer)

Pyaare fauji bhaayiyon, aaj khud aapko saamne paakar mujhe kitni Khushi ho rahi hai yeh main bataa naheen saktaa. Aapki bahaduri par sirf main hi naheen poora desh naaz karta hai. Yesudas aapko baar baar salaam karta hai. Mujhe bahut khushi ho rahi hai ki aapse baaten kar raha hoon. Mujhe is Hindi film sangeet mein laane ka shrey jaata hai sangeekaar Salil Choudhury-ji ko aur maine Lata Mangeshkar-ji ko sabse mahaan gaayika maanta hoon. Isliye pehla geet Lata Mangeshkarji ka gaaya aur Salil Choudhury ji ka swarbaddha kiya huya sunaata hoon.

[Dear military brethrens, I cannot describe how happy I am to find myself in your company. Not just me, but the entire nation is proud of your bravery. Yesudas salutes you repeatedly. I am very pleased that I am talking with you. The credit to bring me to Hindi movie music goes to Salil Chowdhury ji, and I regard Lata Mangeshkar as the greatest female playback singer. Therefore I will play the first song of the programme in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar ji and its music is composed by Salil Choudhury ji]

Majrooh Sultanpuri (Originally presented in 1985)

Fauji azizon, is waqt Majrooh Sultanpuri aap se mukhaatib hai. Aap watan-e-aziz ki anmol khidmat kar rahe hain. Aap ke kuch pal halka kar sakoon, isliye aaj bhi main kuchh naye puraane geet lekar haazir huya hoon. Film Andaz ke is geet mein maine ek vaada kiya tha, aaj bhi wohi dohra raha hoon. Sangeetkaar the Naushad sahab aur gaaya tha marhoom Mukesh ne.

[Dear military brethrens, it is Majrooh Sultanpuri talking to you at present. You are rendering valuable service to our beloved nation. Anand Bakshi ( Originally presented in 1976)

Mere fauji bhaaiyon, hum bahut puraane saathi hain. Aaj zindegi mujhe bahut door laa phenka hai par main aapko bhoola naheen hoon. Ummeed hai ki aap bhi mujhe yaad karte honge. Aur agar aap bhool gaye hon to aapko yaad dilaa doon ki main 4 saal ‘Signals’ mein ‘Telephone Operator’ raha hoon, aur itna hi arsaa ‘EME Core’ mein ‘electrician’ raha hoon. Wahaan bhi main aap logon ke dil bahlaata tha. Aaj aap phir yaad aaye hain, isi baat par pehla gaana film Charas ka sunwa raha hoon jise mere bahut hi pyaare dost Laxmikant Pyarelal ne swarbaddha kiya hai.

[My military brethren, we are very old friends. Today life has carried me too far away from you but I have not forgotten you. I hope that you too remember me. In case you have forgotten, let me remind you that I have been a telephone operator for 4 yeras in the Singals, and I worked as an electrician in the EME corps for a similar duration. There also I used to entertain you. Now that I am reminded of you once again, let me play a song from the movie “Charas” which has been composed by my very dear friends Laxmikant Pyarelal.]

Vishesh Jaimala- Prem Dhawan (lyricist & music director)-Originally presented in 1988

Mere fauji bhaiyon, aap sab ko mera namaskaar. aaj mujhe bahut khushi ho rahi hai is programme mein aapke liye kuchh geet pesh kar raha hoon. bahut door se Vividh Bharati ke zariye aapse mulaaqaat ho rahi hai. Aap log kaisi paristhitiyon mein rehte hain, maine personally nazdiki se dekha hai jab humlog Indo-Pak aur Indo-Chinese war ke samay aapki seva mein gaye the. Indo-Pak war ke samay main Sunil Dutt aur Nargisji ke saath gaya tha.

[My Military brethren,my greetings to you all. I am very pleased that I am presenting some songs for you courtesy this programme. I am meeting you from a distance through Vividh Bharati. I have personally witnessed the difficult circumstances in which you live from nearby, when I had had personally gone and visited you during Indo-Pak and Indo-China war.During Indo-Pak war, I had visited you alongwith Sunil Dutt and Nargisji. When we boarded the military helicopter to reach Leh, the capital of Laddakh,we noticed that sacks of rations and cattles were loaded in the rear of the helicopter. The cattles were then being airdropped through parachutes. Anwar Hussain, the brother of Nargisji commented that probably we would also be air dropped through parachutes likewise. When we arrived Leh, we were informed that the oxygen level there was very low thanks to the place being at a high altitude. Therefore we were advised to go about our activities at a slow pace, else we would risk feeling dizzy. When the shehnaayi player played his instrument and played a high note, the note continued to remain high. We performed a few small skits which were especially appreciated by the troops.Let us now listen to a song from Kabuli wala “Ae mere pyaare watan tujhpe dil qurbaan”]
